HOME  :  About Sugar Stix

In 1984, Stewart Thompson pioneered the idea to create small personalized sugar packets which would allow the independent to portray the same image as a large multi-national corporation. As co-founder of Europe's largest single portion supplier, Stewart's company Single Service would ultimately become the sole supplier in the U.K. to McDonalds, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, and thousands of other pubs, restaurants, and hotels.

In 1995, H.J. Heinz acquired Single Service. In June of 1999, Stewart formed Sugar Stix, Inc. in Orlando, Florida where over 4 million dollars was invested in equipment. Sugar Stix, Inc. prints all of its packaging materials with latest state-of-the-art four color printing press.

As fate changes all of our lives...

In the fall of 2001, Stewart got word that Heinz was prepared to sell the dry side of the original UK company. So in December 2001, Single Source was born based only 2 miles from the first Single Service factory. The management team has been reformed and Single Source is now one of the fastest growing food service companies in Europe. Meanwhile Sugar Stix continues to expand at an incredible rate.

In the fall of 2006, Stewart further expanded the Sugar Stix business by adding additional factory capacity - located in Dallas, Texas.

The company has now produced over 5000 different customer designs and Sugar Stix are now found all over the United States and Canada. New technology has allowed the creation and reproduction of full color photographic quality sugar packets.

Numerous major restaurant brands now use Sugar Stix instead of the old fashioned packets. Just look at our caddy page and it speaks for itself.
